Pearl Harbor Day

Today is December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day.

Please join me in remembering the hundreds of thousands of American men and women who served in World War II. It was a war that our country did not seek, a war that was fought with enormous sacrifice and a war in which American servicemen and women brought peace and freedom millions.

The sacrifices of our fathers and mothers should never be forgotten.

Civil War Connection

Schofield barracks on Oahu, heavily damaged during the attack, was name for Union General John McAllister Schofield.

After the war, while serving as Secretary of War for President Johnson, he visited Oahu and decided that Pearl Harbor was the perfect site for a naval base.

Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Field were to provide protection for the harbor.

I definitely remove my hat to all in the US Armed Forces.
